Often regarded as the dean of property management in Hawaii, Aaron M. Chaney believed in an ethical approach to business, personal discipline, and the continuing education of industry professionals throughout the islands. He was the founder of Aaron M. Chaney Inc., which later became Chaney, Brooks & Co., the largest property management company in the state.
Partial tournament proceeds benefit the Aaron M. Chaney Scholarship Fund which assists Hawaii's real estate managers with IREM course tuition fees as they work toward their ARM certification or CPM designation. IREM Hawaii also supports local charities which, in 2012, included Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hawaii, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Hawaii Foodbank, Hawaii Youth Symphony, Family Programs Hawaii, The Institute For Human Services, Hawaii Dragon Boat Festival, and Queen Emma Hawaiian Civic Club whose members volunteered at the tournament.
